One thing I love about good horror games design is how much atmosphere depends on minor details instead of major events. A room covered in obvious gore creates immediate shock. But a normal room with one strange detail can create lingering discomfort. That discomfort lasts longer because it’s harder to categorize emotionally. The brain keeps trying to interpret the inconsistency instead of resolving it instantly.
